Lara graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2006. During her final year at art school she was awarded the Royal Scottish Academy Landscape Prize at the RSA annual student exhibition and the RSA John Kinross Scholarship (a three month residency to Florence). In October 2007 she received two prizes from the Paisely Art Institute Drawing Competition; the Plein Air Prize (a residency in France) and Miller's City Art Shop Prize. Lara also received the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Award in 2008 following her first solo show at the John Davies Gallery in Morton in Marsh, Gloucestershire. Most recently she has been awarded the James Torrance Memorial Award at the RGI 149th Annual exhibition. Since graduating Lara has continued to exhibit across Scotland and England.

"The natural world provides me with my main source of inspiration. Drawing directly from life allows me the freedom to explore my technique, heighten my observational skills and be more aware of nature and the ever-changing elements."
